About the venue

The handsome, light and spacious Italianate building was built in 1849, designed by a Maidstone architect, Martin Bulmer. The Assembly Rooms has hosted many events of historical importance, including a dinner held by the Lord Mayor of London to celebrate the arrival of the railway to the town.
