About the venue

There has been a church on the sight of Hampstead Parish Church ever since 1312, when the land was granted to the Benedictine monks of Westminster Abbey, and was made of timber for much of that time. The newer stone building boasts the gates and railings from the Duke of Chandos' home, where Handel was organist! It has many other remarkable features too - make sure to have a look at the Commandment Boards, which were carved by Thomas Ady and restored in 1979. They now hang in the gallery and are considered some of the best in England. Once you've enjoyed the concert, why not explore the rest of Hampstead with its many cafes, restaurants and creperies for peckish tots and adults alike, or see how may blue plaques you can spot - John Constable, Arthur Bliss and Sigmund Freud are all within easy walking distance.
