About our Christmas concerts

We love this time of year, but it can be pretty hectic for us parents, right?! So to make life a bit easier, here are some top tips about our Christmas concerts.

  1. All are welcome - families members big and small, those who celebrate Christmas and those that dont.
  2. Our Christmas concerts will be a feast of music that celebrates families coming together and all things wintertime, with a sprinkling of sleigh bells and singalong carols throughout - there'll be something for everybody!
  3. Look out for the specific music and musical instruments at your chosen concert when the programmes are announced in early November.
  4. Fancy dress, frolicking and loud singing encouraged, but please note this is not a carol service, or santa's grotto and we can't guarantee the church will have a tree up yet. **sniff**

About the venue

Bach to Baby Kew & Richmond Venue ImageThe historic Barn Church in Kew was the first church in England to be build from a barn. The timbers come from a 17th-century barn in Oxted, in the far corner of Surrey. The Oxted barn was used at various times for cattle and the storage of hops and crops. The timbers clearly predate the barn itself they were probably from ships that fought at the time of the Armada and the Tudor panelling behind the altar may be even older. The north and south entrances are paved with ancient threshing stones. The church has a long tradition of its commitment to local families and the education of children is illustrated in a striking panel in the old Lady Chapel. After a Bach to Baby concert at The Barn Church, why not take a stroll to the Royal Kew Gardens which is just a few minutes' walk away.
