About our Christmas concerts

We love this time of year, but it can be pretty hectic for us parents, right?! So to make life a bit easier, here are some top tips about our Christmas concerts.

  1. All are welcome - families members big and small, those who celebrate Christmas and those that dont.
  2. Our Christmas concerts will be a feast of music that celebrates families coming together and all things wintertime, with a sprinkling of sleigh bells and singalong carols throughout - there'll be something for everybody!
  3. Look out for the specific music and musical instruments at your chosen concert when the programmes are announced in early November.
  4. Fancy dress, frolicking and loud singing encouraged, but please note this is not a carol service, or santa's grotto and we can't guarantee the church will have a tree up yet. **sniff**

About the venue

Bach to Baby Raynes Park Venue ImageBefore St Matthew's Church existed, the congregation had to meet in a classroom of Cottenham Park School until a suitable building could be constructed. After the outbreak of war in 1939, all services had to be held during daylight hours because of blackout restrictions, and Midnight Mass was held by torchlight. But rest assured that despite being bombed in 1944, the church has since returned to normal functioning and now plays host to a range of community groups and other activities. If you're looking for something to do after the concert, Cottenham Park is just a six minute walk away and has a lovely children's playground for little ones with bags of energy - or there's even tennis courts for adults wanting to hone their skills in time for the Wimbledon championships next year!
